September Lauren Reynolds – Year 8 - National Trampolinist and Regional Gymnast

Lauren has worked very hard over the past three years to establish herself within the sport of Trampolining.  Coming from a gymnastics background she showed an immediate aptitude for the sport.  She has trained methodically to learn the techniques she will need to become a top flight international trampolinist.

Business Students Fund Raise for St Luke’s Hospice

Year 12 Business students have been fund raising this term for St Luke’s Hospice.  As part of their Business course the students study Planning an Event.  Following class discussions the class agreed that they wanted to organise events to fund raise for St Luke’s to support them to continue to provide the amazing help to the community.  Students went about planning and organising a number of events all of which involved selling a range of tasty snacks, drinks and St Luke’s Christmas cards.  The students gave up lunchtimes and attended evening events within the school to fund raise.  The students have successfully raised £300 which they will present to St Luke’s after Christmas.

Dragons Den Comes to Bromfords

This term year 11 Business students had an opportunity to set up and run their own business.  This involved attendance in an after school club where the students would plan the business, conduct market research, prepare a pricing strategy and marketing materials.  The students then had an opportunity to sell their products in school on 28 and 29 November.  The young entrepreneurs considered the target market and filled a gap in the market by providing individually made personalised milkshakes, cookies, donuts and chocolates treats.  Unsurprisingly they did very well!

Abacus Science Day

On Friday 11th November 25 Year 5 and 6 student from Abacus Primary School visited The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College to spend the day in the Science Department.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors Meet Celebrities

On 14 November, students from The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College attended the yearly conference which was held this year at Alexandra Palace in London.

Over 300 young Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, aged 7-18 from schools across the UK, came together at a Cyber Giant sponsored event to inspire and support young people to creatively explore bullying issues through; YouTube, poetry, drama, singing, photography, rap, graffiti art and public speaking – all led by celebrities.

Dora Love Prize 2016-17

On 22nd September 2016 ten year 9 pupils, Cydnee-Rose, Natasha, Jessica, Emily, Brendan, Mia, Mitchell, Emily, Ehsan, Aman, visited the University of Essex for the introduction of the Dora Love Prize 2016-17. Dora Love was a Jewish survivor of Stutthof concentration camp, who died in October 2011, she spent her life speaking up against hatred and ensuring people remembered the importance of the Holocaust.
