Governors & Academy Trust

With effect from 1st September 2017 The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College has ceased to be a stand-alone academy and has now formed “Compass Education Trust Ltd” along with Billericay School in Billericay. Compass Education Trust is a multi-academy trust and registered as a charitable company at Companies House. The Trust’s objectives and responsibilities are set out in an academy funding agreement with the Department for Education and the governance regulations and procedures are detailed in our Articles of Association. Further information detailing how the academy trust is governed and managed may be found in our annual report.

The Trust structure has 3 members who have appointed 7 Trustees/Directors to the Board.

The Trust board is responsible for strategic decision making, trust policies, financial matters and educational standards in all its schools. It is required to publish an annual report each year together with its audited accounts. Each individual school within the trust has a local governing body, which monitors standards and pupil outcomes and makes recommendations to the Trust Board. The local governors also approve and monitor the school’s budget. The local governing body for The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is constituted by members of our local community and includes elected parent governors and staff governors.
