Generation Medics

Year 8 students are being given the opportunity of an 8-week course gaining an understanding of working life in the NHS. Eight students are following a mentoring programme with Generation Medics who are an NHS group whose aim is to inspire and encourage young people into healthcare careers. The course offers hands-on experience, such as scrubbing up and administering anaesthetics to a ‘Mr Orange’ – under careful supervision students learnt how to fill a syringe and inject the anaesthetic.

These sessions are led by healthcare professionals and the students will be learning about the variety of opportunities within the NHS.  With their mentors, they set SMART targets each week, discuss how they can achieve them and the progress they are making.
