Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been fairly widely reported in the national media that TikTok users were warning each other that a group of men had designated the 24th of April as a national day of carrying out rape and sexual assault.
A group of online experts have had an in-depth look at these rumours and found no evidence to support these rumours.
However, a significant number of videos, warnings and commentary have been posted in response to the rumours and we are aware that some students may have seen them.
Given the unfortunate influence social media has over young people we are concerned that it may well become a topic of discussion amongst them.
We will be talking to all students to make it clear that jokes/banter regarding sexual violence are highly inappropriate and anyone making these in school will be sanctioned accordingly.
We would very much welcome your support in also discussing this with your child.
