SIXTH FORM A LEVEL RESULTS DAY

THE BROMFORDS SCHOOL AND SIXTH FORM A LEVEL RESULTS DAY

As the 2020 summer exam season was cancelled, this year’s Year 13 cohort have been awarded grades by the exam boards, based on information supplied by the schools. The exam boards have applied their own calculations, taking account of performance in previous years, to generate each individual student’s final grades.  None of the usual benchmark data or headline figures which lend themselves to comparisons between this year and other years, or between schools, have any validity this year.  Schools in this area have therefore come to an agreement that it would serve no purpose to release such figures into the public domain.

Sitting exams would have been stressful enough for these young people, but losing the chance to prove what they can achieve has been even more so. Thankfully, students at the Bromfords School and Sixth Form College are now able to celebrate, as their A Level and Vocational course results have allowed 95% of students to go onto their first-choice university. We also have continued our historic success of securing apprenticeships for young people.

Mr Dunn, Headteacher, said ‘I am exceptionally proud of our students today. Having missed out on so much in their final year of school, not least their final examination series, it was a pleasure to see so many bright and enthusiastic young people ready to embark on the next stage of their lives. Their optimism and positivity at such a difficult time is an inspiration to us all.’

Maddie Thomas achieved 2 A*s and one B and is now off to Loughborough to study Mathematics, and Jake Stevens moves onto Cardiff University to study Chemistry. Within our vocational subjects students have also had great success, with James Buist achieving D*D*DM, and is planning to study cyber security at Greenwich University. Kieran Coult is set to join the team at Lloyds Banking group as an apprentice, and Alex Gear is looking forward to starting her career as an accountant with Grant Thornton after securing A*A B, Distinction*.

Ms Petch, Head of Sixth Form said ‘We are really proud of our students today, and excited to set them off on their new adventures. Students are moving onto a wide range of next steps, from Chemistry to Applied Criminology to Events Management. In this current time of uncertainty it is also wonderful to see 5 of our students taking up courses in healthcare, including Child’ Nursing, Paramedic Science and Mental Health Nursing. We look forward to following the journeys of the now alumni of Bromfords Sixth Form’.
