NEW Uniform & Sportswear from September 2026
Harris Academy Wickford Uniform and PE Kit 2026-2027
Our students are ambassadors of the school and are expected to dress and behave in a way that reflects the high expectations and aspirations we have for all members of our school community.

Uniform
- A plain navy-blue blazer with the academy badge and gold braiding. Only available from Khalsa Schoolwear.
- Both girls and boys can wear plain navy-blue tailored school trousers, available from Khalsa Schoolwear or any other retailer. Tight trousers, cargo-style trousers, leggings or jeans are NOT permitted.
- Girls have the option of wearing a knee-length navy, pleated skirt available from Khalsa Schoolwear or any other retailer. Please ensure that you purchase the correct style of skirt that matches the design in the images. We would recommend both M&S and Next; prices start from around £12.
- A plain white formal shirt/blouse with collar, buttoned to the neck; to be tucked in at all times. Available from Khalsa Schoolwear or any other retailer.
- School clip-on tie, fastened over the top shirt button, based on your child’s House allocation. Only available from Khalsa Schoolwear.
- A navy-blue knitted ‘V’ neck pullover with gold braiding is optional. Only available from Khalsa Schoolwear. If worn, the jumper is an addition to the blazer and not instead of. No branded jumpers, sweatshirts, hoodies or tracksuit tops. No plain or branded jumpers, sweatshirts, hoodies or tracksuit tops.
- Unbranded plain black socks. Socks must be ankle length. No logos on socks e.g., Nike or Adidas etc
- Plain black, or navy tights; again, no leggings are permitted. If tights are won, socks to be underneath the tights and not over.
- Plain black formal flat shoes, (boots, trainers, sports shoes or other footwear such as Nike Air Force 1 or similar are not permitted, this includes leather flat trainers such as Adidas).
- A coat that is suitable for school, worn over your blazer. Our preference is black or navy in colour. If worn it is worn on top of the blazer and not a replacement for the blazer.
- It is compulsory to have a suitable school bag for students to carry their necessary school equipment and A4 textbooks and exercise books, as well as their PE kit on the days on which PE is timetabled for them.
- Apron for DT or Food lessons, black or navy is the preference
- Only natural looking make-up and hair colour are permitted. False eyelashes are not allowed.
- False nails including acrylics are not permitted. Fingernails must be of natural colour.
- No jewellery (including earrings) is permitted apart from a wristwatch. Please note that any notification function on any watch must be turned off during the school day.
- No extreme haircuts where scalp is visibly showing are permitted. Decisions regarding hair styles that are based on culture will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
- Articles of faith, please contact your child’s Head of Year; for example, if worn head scarves must be black or navy blue in colour.
- Any modification of uniform will be sanctioned accordingly.
Students who are not in full school uniform should report to their Form Tutor upon arrival in school with a note from their parent/carer stating the reason. A ‘red-slip’ uniform note or appropriate sanction will be issued. Parents/carers may also be contacted. No notification from parents will result in a SDD being issued.
Sports Kit and Equipment
- School logo polo shirt. Only available from Khalsa Schoolwear.
- Both girls and boys can wear plain black shorts. Available from Khalsa Schoolwear or any other retailer.
- Girls have the option to wear black sports leggings or plain black tracksuit bottoms. Available from Khalsa Schoolwear or any other retailer. please note that cycling shorts and alike are not allowed.
- Plain black football socks or white sport socks (sport dependent).
- Under layers or skins – black or blue in colour (optional).
- Football boots (optional) dependent on sport.
- Shin pads (optional) dependent on sport.
- Gum shield (optional) dependent on sport
If it is not possible for the correct PE kit to be worn for a PE lesson, students are required to bring a note from home explaining the reason why and provide alternative appropriate PE kit.
Students are expected to change into PE kit for every lesson, even if they are ill or injured. A note from home should explain the issue and the student will be involved within the learning in a safe and suitable way. Students who do not have their PE kit for their PE lesson will be sanctioned accordingly by the PE Department.
Personal property will be the responsibility of the student and should be individually labelled.

New Uniform FAQ's
September 2026 Uniform FAQs for Parents & Carers
Who is the new uniform supplier?
Our official supplier from September 2026 is Khalsa Schoolwear.
What does the new uniform look like?
You can view the approved uniform boards, colourways, and branded items in attachment with this letter. This attachment will also be uploaded onto our website.
Which uniform items will be provided free of charge to existing students?
Students currently in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 will receive the following free branded items:
- 1 x Blazer
- 1x Tie
- 1x PE Top
Further details regarding dates of pop-up events at the school enabling parents/carers to obtain these items will be communicated in due course.
Parents/carers wishing to purchase additional items may do so via the supplier website or in-store. Delivery is free for orders over £50. We will confirm distribution dates as soon as possible. These timings may be influenced by global events affecting manufacturing and transport costs.
Where is the supplier located, and how can I purchase uniform?
Khalsa Schoolwear offers multiple ways to purchase uniform:

For the on-site pop-up events, Khalsa Schoolwear will run measuring and pop-up events on site to support families. A clear process will be communicated once dates are confirmed. Professional staff from Khalsa Schoolwear will measure students and advise on appropriate sizing.
Are new starters included in the uniform swap?
No. New Year 7 starters are not part of the swap and will be required to purchase the full uniform.
When and how will uniform information be provided to new starters?
Parents/carers of new starters will receive:
- A uniform price list;
- A webstore link;
- Details on shop opening times and delivery options.
This will be communicated as part of the new starter information pack.
When will uniform be available for collection and online orders?
We are working towards uniform availability from the second week of July. Please note this may be subject to change due to global supply chain pressures. Any changes will be communicated promptly, and contingency plans will be in place to ensure students have their uniform for September.
How will parental enquiries be handled?
All uniform related questions should be sent to the main school office.
What if the uniform doesn’t fit?
Khalsa Schoolwear offers an exchange policy for unworn items with tags intact. Exchanges can be made:
- In store
- At scheduled pop-up events
- Via returns service (details provided on their website)
Will financial support be available for families who need it?
Where families are experiencing hardship, academies can provide guidance and support on a case-by-case basis. Parents/carers should contact their child’s Head of Year in the first instance.
Can parents still purchase generic items from supermarkets?
Yes - items such as shirts, trousers, skirts, and socks may be purchased from any retailer, provided they meet our uniform standards.
What happens if my child joins the academy mid-year?
From September 2026, uniform is to be purchased directly from Khalsa Schoolwear. The uniform offer above only applies to students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 who are on roll between now and 31st August, 2026.
Will there be guidance on what students should wear for PE?
Yes. This is referenced above and will also be published on our website.
Will there be size guides available online?
Yes. The supplier provides:
- A full-size chart
- A “measure at home” guide
- Fitting recommendations for specific items like blazers and PE tops
What if items are out of stock?
Parents will be notified immediately, and suppliers will prioritise restocking to ensure uniform is available in time for September. We will keep you updated if delays arise.

Uniform September 2025-26

Uniform
- A plain navy-blue blazer with the Bromfords School badge and blue braiding, the school blazer is not an optional part of our uniform.
- Plain white formal shirt/blouse with collar, buttoned to the neck; to be tucked in at all times.
- School clip-on tie, fastened over the top shirt button, (available from the school only and based on your child’s House allocation.
- Plain navy-blue tailored school trousers. Tight trousers, leggings or jeans are NOT permitted.
- The Bromfords School skirt. No other skirt is acceptable. We expect that the school skirts to be worn no shorter than two inches above the knee and not rolled up at the waist.
- A plain navy-blue knitted ‘V’ neck pullover or cardigan is optional. (No branded jumpers, sweatshirts, hoodies or tracksuit tops).
- Unbranded plain navy, black or white socks. Socks can be ankle length or knee length but knee length socks must be worn below the knee. No logos on socks e.g., Nike or Adidas etc
- Plain black, navy or nude tights; again, no leggings are permitted.
- Plain black formal flat shoes, (boots, trainers, sports shoes or other footwear such as Nike Air Force 1 or similar are not permitted,) this includes leather flat trainers such as Adidas.

The school has made significant changes to reduce the cost of school uniform for parents/carers whilst maintaining the high standards of uniform that we expect of our school community. Schools are expected to comply with the government’s Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill by September 2026 which states that secondary school uniform can include a maximum of three branded items and a school tie.
Our uniform already meets this requirement.

Pre- Loved second hand Uniform & Sportwear Is Available
If your household is experiencing financial difficulties in purchasing school uniform, we have a range of ‘pre‑loved’ uniform and sportswear available. These items have been kindly donated, are in very good condition, and have been freshly washed—ready to support students who need them.
